Sweet Floral Card

Howdy!  I needed to make a card for a Stampin' Up! customer, to simply say 'thank you'.  I wanted to use only Stampin' Up! supplies, so I went browsing the internet for some inspiration, and well . . .

I went to the Friday Mashup Challenge to see what they have this week, and well, look at this impistaional board:

these lovely ladies ask you to make a project using the triple layer technique, or floral, or both.

I really had a fabulous time with this weeks sketch over @ retro sketches.  So, I decided to play again.   (I received a retro shout out list with this floral card, using this sketch!  Yahoo!)

I really liked the cascading roses in the Friday Mashup inspiration photo.  So, I decided to create cascading roses for my corner embellishment.  I used the masking technique for the roses and leaves.

Recipe:  I used the pink pirouette card stock for the card base.  I used whisper white card stock as the main panel, and matted it on strawberry card stock.

I used the Stippled Blossoms stamp set to create the 2-step blossoms and leaves.  

To create the random dry embossed dots with the swiss dot embossing folder and a stylus.  I added a trio of bright pink sequins to the card front to add some sparkle.

For my sentiment rectangle, I stamped my sentiment from the Hello There stamp set, in baked brown sugar classic ink.  I matted this piece onto a scrap piece of brushed gold card stock.  I cut a scallop rectangle out of pink pirouette card stock and adhered it to the card front with foam tape.  I stamped the 'thank you' in basic black classic ink onto whisper white card stock.  Then cut it out with my scissors and adhered to the sentiment rectangle.

I tied a simple bow with gold bakers twine, and added it the side of the sentiment rectangle.

Thank you for stopping by!  I just realized that I used the same sentiment for the other card I submitted.  And I also did the same simple bow on the side of the sentiment rectangle.  {ugh}  oh well, I guess I really liked the sentiment and the bow {smile}

Howdy!  I hope everyone had a fabulous holiday! and that you were able to share it with family & friends.  We did!  We had a wonderful Christmas.  My mom came into town, and as always it is wonderful to spend some time with her {smile}.  We got to spend sometime at our daughters house.  Her children are just so precious.   Anyways, one of my new years resolutions (typically every new years) is to spend less on crafting supplies, use what I have, and get my supplies in order.  So, before I head into my craft room to clean up the clutter of holiday crafting these past several months, I want to share a card I made this morning.

The wonderful ladies over @ Divas by Design have a final challenge: anything goes!  

And here is what I made:

I didn't purposefully set out to make a valentines card.  It just kinda happened.  So, lets get started with the recipe and a few close ups {smile}.

The card base is aqua mist card stock from Paper Trey Ink.  I just love the weight of their card stock - heavy, yet workable.

The matt is lagoon from stampin' up!.  I just love this new color.  The floral pattern paper is a digital paper I recently purchased.  Love the polka dots and the colors.    The middle panel is also a recent digital purchase, also.  I thought the blue 'love' piece matched the blue in the floral pattern paper.  i also loved the flowers on this piece.

I matted that piece onto a textured pool party card stock by Stampin' Up!.  

I did a little machine stitching.  I just love the look.  The top banner piece is actually a christmas pattern paper that I had a scrap of, so I just flagged the end.  I did a sloppy machine stitch.

I tied a blush button by Amuse Studios with a thin silver cord.  I added a white tag that I had laying around my crafting space.  I die cut the 'U' from silver glitter paper, by Stampin' Up!.  

I added a scrap piece of white lace trim piece I had left over from holiday card making.  I also added some pink pirouette seam binding, by Stampin' Up!. I tied the seam binding into a multi-loop bow, and added a vintage kraft button by PTI.  I hot glued a Melissa Frances key hole.  And I added a pink heart stick pin.  To finish off the card, I added several white faceted sequins.

All the edges of the different papers were sponged with crumb cake classic ink, by Stampin' Up!

Thinking of You

Happy Friday!  It's time again for another blog hop from Sketch Frenzy Friday.  The wonderful Deb C. has provided us with a this week's sketch: 

Deb has provided us with a very user-friendly sketch.  There is a lot of different possibilities to create something special, unique, and pretty.  Here is what I did with this sketch:

I wanted to make something pink and something vintage.  So, here it is!  I used crumb cake card stock as the base.  I added a panel of pink pirouette card stock under the First Edition DSP panel.  I stamped on the text paper.  I stamped a flourish in crumb cake classic ink.  Along with a splatter mark in pink pirouette classic ink.  I stamped the pen top in various lengths in basic black classic ink.  I wanted the text paper to be 'dressed-up' and a bit classy.

I stamped the typewriter in basic black onto a piece of very vanilla card stock.  I stamped the splatter in pink pirouette classic ink along two of the edges.  I also sponged the edges with crumb cake classic ink.  The blossom was made from a retired emosslit: Birds & Blooms.  I crumpled the blossom and stacked them off-set.  For the center of the blossom, I added the small vintage faceted button tied with linen thread into a bow.

For the sentiment, I used a retired stamp set: Bird on a Branch.  I stamped the sentiment in basic black classic ink and sponged the edges (again) with crumb cake classic ink.  I used a square punch to create the banner ends.  I used a row of dimensions to pop the sentiment banner off the card front.  

Finally, I gave the whole card a sprtiz of vanilla smooch.

Can you believe that the work week is already half over? Well, the talented folks over @ Stampin' Queens Sketch Challenge, have the perfect sketch for you, to get those creative juices flowing!  The only thing that we ask, is that you use Stampin' Up! materials.  Here is this weeks sketch:

See what I mean?  Very user-friendly!  Those circles can be just about anything: stars, butterflies, flowers, hearts, etc.  And the text paper can be pattern paper. The sentiment can be a banner, or keep it as a narrow rectangle.  Now, take a look, at what I did with this great sketch:

I knew what I wanted to do with this card; paper blossoms on butterflies.  But, I needed a color scheme.  A friend sent me a link to a blog that she thought I would love.  And she was right!  Here is the inspiration photo I used, and click HERE to go to  the site. Isn't this a great inspiration photo?  I used pool party card stock for my card base.  It was roughly the closest thing that I had to the blue on the table cloth.  I matted the First Edition DSP onto basic gray card stock.  The butterflies were cut with the butterfly die and emboss lit.  I used naturals card stock for the butterflies.  I used mostly whisper white card stock for the flowers.  The largest one I sponged more mustard classic ink onto the scallop circles.  The tiny, rolled flower, I sponged calypso coral classic ink, onto the scallop circle before I rolled it.  The middle flower, I used regal rose, pink pirouette and whisper white card stock and the trio flower punch to create the flower.  The two larger flowers used the new tiny brads to hold the flowers together. 

 Instead of a text rectangle, I wrapped some blushing bride twill ribbon around my card.  For my sentiment, I stamped three tags and used the jewelry tag to punch out the shape.  I took a gray button from the neutrals collection and glittered it up!  I used white bakers twine to tie the tags onto the button, and added a bow.

I made this card, for a dear friend of mine.  She always takes the time to think of me, and she is always there when I need someone.  This card is too fragile to just stuff in an envelope.  So I'm going to mail it to her in a box, under some tissue paper.  So, she will have a 'gift' so to speak, when it arrives in her mailbox.
