She Reached Double Digits

Howdy, and welcome.  Yeah, been a bit busy with crafting, decorating, cooking, baking, and getting everything in place for my annual hosting of Bunco.  It was a success.  Everyone ate too much, and laughed too much, too!  {smile}  Is there such a thing?  Well, everyone had a grand time, and I am thankful for such wonderful friends!
And along the lines of celebrating, guess who has turned 10 years old?  Yep, my oldest granddaughter.  Crazy, right?  I don't think of myself as old.  But, I have 7 grandchildren.  So, maybe its their parents that are old, and not me.  {smile}
My granddaughter H, is such a wonderful girl.  She is kind, considerate, smart, talented, and simply beautiful!  She scored in the top 3 of the state during scholastic testing.  She reads at a much higher grade level then the one she is in.  She is in gift classes for math and science.  She dances competitively, and is so graceful.  She is creative and artistic - she has won some art contests at her school.  She makes bracelets and sells out during craft fairs.   She is such a warm, and loving kid, too!  Gosh, I could simply go on and on about how wonderful she is.  But, then it just looks like I'm bragging.  {smile}
I made her birthday card.  You aren't surprised by that, are you?  And I wanted to make something girl-y, something sweet, and beautiful.  

I am entering H's card in three challenges.  My first stop is Word Art Wednesday.  Their current challenge is anything goes, and family friendly.   I just love the creativity of their design team.  

My second stop is The Ribbon Girl Blog.  Their current challenge is anything goes, but you have to use ribbon, and it has to be a card.   Easy peasy!

And the final challenge is Cupcake Inspirations.  Their inspiration is a cupcake!

I used the colors and not the flamingo.

here is what I came up with!

Recipe:  I created an A2 size card.  (4 1/4" x 5 1/2").  The card base is made from Pool Party card stock by Stampin' Up!.  I just love this color of blue.  Its a blue green aqua color.  Very shabby chic.  The pink gingham pattern paper is from My Mind's Eye.  It came out about 4-5 years ago.  Yeah, I love this paper, and I have a few sheets left.  (when I run across a paper that I love, I buy a package = 25 sheets of the same 12" x 12" paper.)

I used the same pool party card stock to matt the smaller rectangle on.  I wanted it to look like it belongs, that is why I repeat colors and papers.  The beautiful floral, pink polka dot, text paper, is actually a digital download.  I printed it onto whisper white card stock by Stampin' Up!.  I just love how beautiful my digital papers print on this card stock.  I used foam tape to lift this panel off of the card front.

I hand-stamped my sentiment onto the floral text paper.  I used basic black classic ink by Stampin' Up!, and the Number of Years stamp set.   I cut the numbers out, I  used the Number of Years matching die and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper by Stampin' Up!.   I used foam tape to pop up the numbers.

I wrapped and machine sewn some white lace and pale blue seam binding across the front.   I made a triple loop bow out of the same seam binding.  I used some pale pink bakers twine to tie a white vintage button to the bow.  I adhered the bow & button to the card front with hot glue.  I tied a scrap piece of the pink bakers twine through a small white blossom shaped button, and adhered it to the card front, too.

Pink and Gold Glitter

Howdy.  Sorry I have been absent.  I have been busy crafting for an upcoming Arts and Crafts Fair.  I purchased some gold glitter paper from Stampin' Up! recently.  And well, a friend had asked what I was creating with it.  Because this glitter paper is really sparkle-y and yellow.  I was actually surprised of the color.  But, I had some crafts I wanted to create with it, so, I set out to my craft room.

I made a greeting card, a gift card holder, and a card-box combo.  Now, the photos don't really do these crafts justice.  Please look with a kind eye.

The pink pattern paper is from Echo Park.  I used both sides.  The cream and white pattern paper is from Anna Griffin.  The white portion of the pattern paper is actually flocked.   Its easily 4/+ years old.  I had been hoarding saving this paper for a special project.  {smile}  The card bases are pink pirouette yardstick.  The ribbons are white seam binding, think gold ribbon, gold bakers twine, and the new gold sating ribbon from Stampin' Up!  The buttons are blush by Amuse Studios.  The glitter paper is actually gold.  It looks way better in person.

The snowflake die is from Paper Trey Ink.  The scallop trim die and the leaf punch are both from Stampin' Up!  The poinsettia die is from Heartfelt Creations.  The sentiments are a mix of different stamps I had on hand.

Afternoon Daydream

This week, is underway, and I hope you get a chance to sit and craft.  Paper craft is my main crafting medium.  But, I do love to sew.   And baking is my other passion.  Today, I hope to inspire you to play along with us @ Nacho Average Challenge.  This week, there is a sketch to play with.  I hope you get a chance to play along and create something beautiful.

this week's sketch: NAC #39

what I created:

The card base is basic grey card stock.  I added a pattern paper from the Afternoon Daydream scrappin' kit.  I matted the pattern paper onto pool party cardstock.  I just love this shade of blue.  Its so pretty, warm, and easy on the eye.  The scallop trim piece is actually a sticker for the scrappin kit.  I adhered the scallop trim piece to the pattern paper, then wrapped some crinkled pool party seam binding around the card front.  I tied a simple bow to the left.  

The sentiment piece is from the Itty Bitty Banners stamp set.  I stamped it in basic grey classic ink, onto whisper white card stock.  I fussy cut it out.  Adhered the sentiment banner to the seam binding with foam tape.

The paper blossom was quite fun to create.  I stamped the floral image from Mixed Bunch stamp set three times with versa mark, onto whisper white cardstock.  I used pool party embossing powder on two stamped blossoms, and white embossing powder on the third.  I used the blossom punch to punch out the shapes.  I used my heat tool, to set the embossing powder.  I then distressed the ends of the petals with my 2-way glue pen and dazzling diamond glitter.  I then used a wooden stick to create the bends in the petals, and help give the layers of blossoms some dimension.   I layed the blossoms: pool party, white, and pool party.  I used foam tape in between the layers.  I tied a simple bow with pool party bakers twine through the vintage faucet button and added a pearl to help keep the look soft, and feminine.

Notes Measured

Happy Friday!  I hope you have had a chance to get work settled, and have an opportunity to play along with some of your favorite challenges.  The wonderfully creative Maria, over @ Sketch Frenzy Friday, has a lovely sketch for you to work with.  Here is her sketch:

Here is what I did:

I wanted to create a card with some pretty spring-themed colors.  It's been snowing here, and all I see is white, green, and brown.  So, I decided to work with some Stampin' Up! soft subtle colors.

The card base is So Saffron card stock.  I first stamped the large doily (Hello, Doily!) in VersaMark and used some white embossing powder.  I heat embossed the doily partially off set.  I stamped the outline stamp in so saffron classic ink randomly on the card front.  

I used the Music Notes wheel and Basic Grey classic ink, to create the music sheet.  I used the Measure Stick wheel and whisper white craft ink and white embossing powder to create the measuring tape.  I layered these two pieces.  I used some Pink Pirouette re-inker to dye the very vanilla seam binding.  While it was wet, I crinkled it.  I hurried the drying time, with my heat gun.  I laid the dyed seam binding across the two stamped pieces, and then machine stitched along the seam binding.  

I used the scallop heart stamp and basic grey classic ink, to create the heart piece.  I used the matching die to cut the scallop heart out of whisper white card stock.  I used the small heart die, from the same set, to cut the so saffron heart.  I used dimensionals to lift the yellow heart off the front of the scallop heart.  I added some pearls around the border.  I stamped the banner piece in basic grey classic ink, and then hand-cut the banner,  I adhered the banner with a dimensional, to lift it off the hearts. 

I dyed a longer piece of very vanilla seam binding, and created a multi-loop bow.  I tied the bow with some white bakers twine and added a button from the Artisan Embellishment kit.  I tied the bakers twine into a bow, and glued a pearl to the center of the bow.

I'm so happy it is Friday!  I need a break, and not just from work.  This week has been busy with work, house, dog and husband.  ugh!  So, to help me distract from all this caos, I have spent some time in my craft room.   Robbie R., from Sketch Frenzy Friday, has given us a creative sketch to work with this week, and here it is:

Welcome

I have to admit, I struggled a bit with this week's sketch over @ Stampin' Queens Sketch Challenge.  The sketch is great, don't get me wrong.  My mind is just elsewhere.  I am co-hosting and assistanting with a Baby Reveal Shower next weekend, and I am making the Thank-You boxes, making 2 rag quilts, cutting the decorative card stock for the kids gift bags, helping with the food, and making the decorations.

Here is this week's sketch:

Here is what I created:

The card base for this card is soft suede.  The main layer is pink pirouette.  I stamped Hello, Dolly background doily in versa mark, and used white embossing powder.  I wanted the main panel to have some visual interest.  I made a tag out of water color paper.  I sponged the edges of panels and tag, to give the card a vintage look. I stamped the limb stamp in jet black staz-on pigment ink.   I used my re-inkers and aqua painter to 'paint' the image.  I re stamped the bird out in soft suede classic ink, fussy cut it out and used foam tape to pop the bird house.  I restamped the limb in basic brown ink and 'painted' that one also.  I took my 3/4" circle punch and punched out various spots of the second 'painted' image and used foam tape to lift the circles off the card front.  I added a row of 5 half faux pearls below the sentiment.  I adhered the tag to the card front with more foam tape.  I thought that this card was missing something,  I'm not always a fan of a lot of empty space, so the is how the silver glitter butterfly came about.  For my ribbon treatment, I first attached a strip of crochet trim and then added a piece of vanilla seam binding.  I took a longer piece of the brown striped bakers twine around the card front.  I added a half faux pearl to the center of the bow.

Thank You, my Friend

Can you believe that the work week is already half over? Well, the talented folks over @ Stampin' Queens Sketch Challenge, have the perfect sketch for you, to get those creative juices flowing!  The only thing that we ask, is that you use Stampin' Up! materials.  Here is this weeks sketch:

See what I mean?  Very user-friendly!  Those circles can be just about anything: stars, butterflies, flowers, hearts, etc.  And the text paper can be pattern paper. The sentiment can be a banner, or keep it as a narrow rectangle.  Now, take a look, at what I did with this great sketch:

I knew what I wanted to do with this card; paper blossoms on butterflies.  But, I needed a color scheme.  A friend sent me a link to a blog that she thought I would love.  And she was right!  Here is the inspiration photo I used, and click HERE to go to  the site. (I have pinned some of the other images to my 'Inspiration' board @ Pinterest.)

Isn't this a great inspiration photo?  I used pool party card stock for my card base.  It was roughly the closest thing that I had to the blue on the table cloth.  I matted the First Edition DSP onto basic gray card stock.  The butterflies were cut with the butterfly die and emboss lit.  I used naturals card stock for the butterflies.  I used mostly whisper white card stock for the flowers.  The largest one I sponged more mustard classic ink onto the scallop circles.  The tiny, rolled flower, I sponged calypso coral classic ink, onto the scallop circle before I rolled it.  The middle flower, I used regal rose, pink pirouette and whisper white card stock and the trio flower punch to create the flower.  The two larger flowers used the new tiny brads to hold the flowers together. 

 Instead of a text rectangle, I wrapped some blushing bride twill ribbon around my card.  For my sentiment, I stamped three tags and used the jewelry tag to punch out the shape.  I took a gray button from the neutrals collection and glittered it up!  I used white bakers twine to tie the tags onto the button, and added a bow.

I made this card, for a dear friend of mine.  She always takes the time to think of me, and she is always there when I need someone.  This card is too fragile to just stuff in an envelope.  So I'm going to mail it to her in a box, under some tissue paper.  So, she will have a 'gift' so to speak, when it arrives in her mailbox.
