my friend

Thank you for stopping by this Friday.  I hope you are well.  And, to get your mojo moving, the ladies over @ Sketch Frenzy Friday are hosting another blog hop.  So, won't you stop by the design team's blogs and get inspired to play along.
The lovely Deb. C. has a fantastic sketch for you to work with this week.  Here it is:

here is what I made:

This card was fun to create.  I used So Saffron DSP and solid card stock.  I thought this bright cheery color would be a nice change of pace.  I stamped the floral image in Staz-On, and used a blender pen to color the image.  I stamped the sentiment in Staz-On, too.
Thank you for looking.  Now, head over to Tammy F.'s blog to continue the blog hop!

seed to friendship

I'm so happy it is Friday!  I need a break, and not just from work.  This week has been busy with work, house, dog and husband.  ugh!  So, to help me distract from all this caos, I have spent some time in my craft room.   Robbie R., from Sketch Frenzy Friday, has given us a creative sketch to work with this week, and here it is:

This sketch really has a lot of potential.  If you have the opportunity, you should play along.  But please at least follow this weeks blog hop and see what the other design team members have created.  Here is what I created:

This is really a CAS card for me.  I apologize.  I couldn't get my mojo working.  Your next stop is Tammy F.'s blog!
I hope you have an chance to play along with us!

Birthday Wishes @ Creative Sketches

Hello,  fellow paper crafters!  And welcome to my blog.  I am on the design team for a challenge site called Creative Sketches.  They host a different challenge each week.  And this week's challenge is a sketch challenge.
Here is the sketch:
We would love for you to play along with us!  You don't have to use any particular paper crafting supplies or specific paper company.  We urge you to use what you have.  These economic times are already difficult.  So, use what you have on hand.  Mix and match.  Be creative.  Let your inner artist take charge.  Use this time to escape and create something beautiful and uniquely YOU!

Here is my card:
I used Stampin' Up! products for this card.  The card base is chocolate chip.  (I know, it looks like Bravo Burgundy, but it's not.)  The pink layer is Pink Pirouette card stock.  I stamped onto Very Vanilla card stock and did a thin matt of Crumb Cake card stock.  I stamped the flower in Basic Brown. classic ink I used both blender pen and chalks to color this pretty image.  I added some white dots and colored the flower center white with a white gel pen.  I stamped the sentiment in Soft Suede classic ink.  I stamped the scratched background in Sahara Sand classic ink.  I had a scrap piece of off white felted wool, so I used the beautiful butterfly embosslit and cut out a small butterfly.  I added a faux half-pearl as its body and adhered the butterfly to the card front with a glue dot.
I'm pretty sure this card would not need more than a general postage stamp.  The card itself is pretty flat, with just a tiny bump created by the butterfly.
Thank you for looking, and I hope you carve out an hour or so, and join us in this weeks challenge!

Technique Week

Good Morning! I hope everyone has some wonderful plans this holiday weekend. Filled with peace, and surrounded with family and friends! Oh, and don't forget the chocolate bunnies.
Over at Creative Sketches, we have a great challenge! It's technique week, so that means there is a layout and a technique for you. The layout is super easy to work with, and very versatile. The technique is to use chalks. How wonderful is that! Something soft and pretty to get you in the Easter mood. So, please join us! I can't wait to see what you create.
So, here is my card. As you can tell, I have an infinity for that Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder by Stampin' Up! It gives your card just enough interest without distracting from the focal point. LOVE IT! Ok, I have a secret love for the smooch spray, too! I have a love hate relationship with the Log Cabin smooch. I really love to use it, and then, I wish it was lighter. What can I say. If they made a color that is more like Crumb Cake, I'd be in heaven and you all would be tired of me using it. Hey, I have an idea, maybe I'll make my own. I can post a mini tutorial right here, so you too make create a color you would love to use!
Anyway, back to the card. I love the flower image from the Happiness Shared stamp set. Its one of those perfect coloring flowers. And the stamps from Define Your Life. They are perfect. I added a little seam binding to the top of my stamped piece, to fill in some of the white empty space. And to keep your eye moving, I added a bit of interest in the upper right corner of the card.
Thank you so much for stopping by. As always, your comments really do make my day. Let me know if you have a favorite item you use on many of your paper crafts.
