Ticket of Gratitude

Happy Friday.  The wonderfully talented Jennifer over @ Sketch Frenzy Friday has a wonderful sketch for you to try this week.  The sketch has alot of potential, and alot of room for interrelation.

and here is what I did:

I used the background stamp Ex Libis and inked it with Soft Suede classic ink.  I did the 'finger tap' method of stamping, to achieve the random look.  I used Soft Sky card stock for the card base and for the bottom matt of the panel.  I used Modern Medley DSP for the music sheet piece.  

I heat embossed with white embossing powder the doily onto vellum card stock.  I used the circle punch to cut that piece out.  I used the large heart punch to create the heart shape from the  text paper, also Modern Medley DSP.  

I machine stitched the layered panel.  Then I machine stitched the heart and doily.  I created the rose from clay and the mold.  I punched leaves using the 2 step bird punch and soft sky card stock.

For the ribbon piece, I used pool party seam binding and pulled a few threads to create the ruffle.  I created a multi-loop bow and tied it with linen thread and then added a pearl.

I stamped two tickets from Thats the Ticket stamp set.  One ticket is stamped in soft suede classic ink and the other is basic black classic ink.  I stamped the sentiment onto the 'brown' ticket.

Baby Buttons on Friday

wow, this year is going by fast.  I can't hardly believe that it is already August.  Can you?  So, to start off another month, the lovely Robbie, over @ Sketch Frenzy Friday has a wonderfully creative sketch for you to try.

this week's sketch

Ok, before you get discouraged, frustrated, or none of that, lets take a second look at the sketch.  The long vertical piece on the left hand side, can be almost anything.  Think: ribbon, box pleat, accent piece, stacked flowers, a row of hearts, a stream of butterflies.  See the new possibilities?  Ok, next, the rectangle piece with the arch.  The rectangle can be a matted piece, a tag, an accent piece, also.  The arch piece can be leaves, a bow, a doily, or an oval/circle accent piece.  Can you picture the card coming together, now?

  

The card base is pink pirouette cardstock.  The main panel is whisper white cardstock.  I used an embossing folder to create the texture.  For the vertical piece, I used the plaid wheel inked in pink pirouette classic ink.  I used the polka dot pink pattern paper from the subtles dsp and the scallop border punch to create the scallop edges of the plaid piece.  I used my sewing machine to make the simple border along both sides.

I love layers, and so I couldn't put one single sentiment banner.  So, I created a doily with the delicate doily stamp set, versa mark ink, white embossing powder, and vellum cardstock. Pretty, huh?  I used the That's the Ticket stamp set, to create the ticket.  I stamped the ticket onto pink pirouette cardstock and versa mark ink.  I heat embossed the text with white embossing powder.  And to create the curved banner, I used the Itty Bitty Banner set.  I 'colored' the outline of the stamp with my basic black marker, and the sentiment in soft suede marker, then stamped onto whitsper white card stock.  

To create the rectangle piece with a arch, I created a frame.  I used the designer frame embossing folder to create the 'frame'.  The crumb cake card stock has texture to keep this piece from looking flat.  I used foam tape to adhere the frame to the card front.

I made a trio of buttons from clay, using SU!'s new button & blossom mold.  I thought that they add a simple sweet embellishment.  

Now, for the arch piece, I added a dyed seam binding 'hanger'.  I used pink pirouette re inker to dye some very vanilla seam binding.  I tied a simple bow and used the tails to hold the frame.

Hello Baby

On this Friday, Jennifer is our sketch design artist for the sketch challenge over @ Sketch Frenzy Friday.  Jennifer has created a wonderful sketch.  I think it works for a large variety of paper crafters.  This sketch is very workable if you're a CAS type of gal, or a layering fool (like me) {smile}.

When I saw the sketch this week, the first thing I thought of was to stamp flowers in the opposite corners.  But then, that just didn't seem like 'me'.  The other thing that came to mind, was to use some products that I just love, but are retiring from Stampin' Up! this month.  A way to use things I like before I can't.  

here is what I created:

The card base is made from River Rock card stock.  I love this shade.  It's a neutral that has some green in it.  It looks like a linen shade, to me.  And then I decided to use some pretty soft colors, to help showcase this shade.                                            

The large panel is made from pool party card stock.  I used the distressed polka dot background stamp.  (Another retiring product.)  I stamped the polka dots in whisper white craft ink and white embossing powder.  I heat set the embossing powder.  I sponged some pool party classic ink on the all the edges, and randomly over the embossed polka dots.  I used a kleenex to wipe any ink off the embossed polka dots.

The upper corner has a strip of crochet trim and burlap ribbon stapled to the corner.  I layered a fabric blossom on top of a silver glimmer paper flower.  I stamped the baby ticket and adhered it on top of the ribbon tails.  The pink panel is made from pink pirouette card stock.  I stamped the doily in whisper white craft ink and used white embossing powder.  Heat set the doilies, swiped pink pirouette classic ink across the raised doilies.

As with the sketch, there are two embellishments at opposite corners.  I wanted to make a soft, pretty, sweet card for a baby shower.  So, I didn't want to specify a girl or boy baby.  That's another reason for the pink and blue.  I also selected neutral vanilla-colored embellishments.  I did all the stamping with basic grey classic ink.

The bottom corner has a postage stamp and a ticket.  Both pieces were stamped in basic grey clasic ink onto very vanilla cardstock.  I layered them, and added the button to hide the text.  I tied some white bakers twine through the button.

The sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set, in basic black classic ink.  This is my version of a clean and simple card.  It isn't one layer, or 'flat'.  But, it is a pretty basic card for me {smile}.

Friday Pennants

Happy Friday.  I hope this post finds you well.  This has been a good week at work.  Good, because everything went well.  I did some baking for a luncheon earlier this week.  Those cupcakes were delicious!

Ok, so now onto crafting!  The wonderfully talented Kim @ Sketch Frenzy Friday has created a straight forward sketch for you to try.

here is what I did:

This card was alot of fun to create.  I wanted to use a pattern paper that wasn't too busy.  So, I selected a small pattern from a Scrappin' kit.  I also used a scrap piece of textured pool party card stock, for the lower third of the card.  For the pennants, I used bits and pieces from various stamp sets, and repeated the same colors: more mustard, basic grey, and pool party, and added some goodies.  

For the horizontal belly band, I used the lace wheel inked in basic grey classic ink, and rolled onto whisper white cardstock.  To cover the seams, I added a strip of summer starfruit ribbon.  

For the sentiment tag, I stamped the decorative scalloped oval in more mustard classic ink.  I also stamped the sentiment in basic grey classic ink.  I used a square punch to create the banner end.  I stapled the two pieces together.  I thought the metal staple would add some charm.  To help build the sentiment cluster, I stamped a ticket onto whisper white cardstock, then sponged the ticket with pool party classic ink.

For the pennant pieces, I used various stamps and embellishments I had on hand.  To keep it all cohesive, I repeated images, and kept the same colors.  The pennant pieces are made with pool party card stock, with a layer of whisper white cardstock.  

Working from the left to the right:  I stamped the smallest doily in pool party classic ink and fussy cut.  I stamped a floral image in basic grey classic ink and fussy cut.  I made a multi-loop bow from pool party seam binding and used an in color designer brad to hold it together.  To continue the feminine look, I added a trio of pearls along the lower right edge.

For the middle pennant, I inked the music note wheel in basic grey classic ink.  I used the same small doily stamped in more mustard classic ink, randomly.  I sponged more mustard classic ink onto a fabric blossom.  I dotted the blossom with my 2 way glue pen and dunked in a tub of dazzling diamond glitter.  I punched a few leaves from a scrap piece certainly celery cardstock.  I added a scrap piece of floral lace and a few pearls.  I also added a trio of pearls in the upper left corner.

For the last pennant, I stamped the white card stock with the small doily stamp.  I stamped the same small doily in pool party classic ink, onto a piece of pool party card stock, and fussy cut the doily out.  I added a circle of white cardstock.  I added a grey pattern circle from the scrappin' kit.  The butterfly is from the scrappin' kit, as well.  I dusted the back of the butterfly sticker with baby powder, to neutralize the sticky.  I bent the wings and added some pearls for the body.  I also added a trio of pearls to the lower right corner.

I strung the pennants with pool party bakers twine.  I used two neutral brads to secure the pennants to the card front.

Create Happiness

This week, over @ Nacho Average Challenge have a color challenge for you this week.  I have to admit, when I first saw the colors, I thought, 'what can I make with these colors?'  You see, they are not the typical colors that I work with.  But, it is called a challenge.

Here are the colors:

here is what I made:

I stamped the back ground stamp in VersaMark ink onto the Marina Mist card stock.  I used clear embossing powder and heat set the image.  I placed my embellish pieces over the label portion of the main panel piece.  

For the butterfly cluster:  I used the doily die to cut the small doily under the butterfly.  The paper is actually very vanilla card stock.  I sponged daffodil delight onto the card stock.  I used a piece of First Edition DSP and the butterfly die.  I used real red card stock and the beautiful wings die.  I sponged daffodil delight classic ink onto a paper blossom.  I adhered the paper blossom to the red butterfly with a dimensional.  I tied some white bakers twine through a faceted button and added it to the center of the paper blossom.

I used the Loving Thoughts word stamp set to create the two banners.  I stamped the words in Basic Grey classic ink, and used a 1 1/4" square hand-held punch to create the flagged ends.

For the postage stamps:  I first stamped the images in Marina Mist classic ink.  I then used the postage stamp punch and punched out the images.  I sponged crumb cake classic ink along the edges to distress the stamps.  I then used the Paris postmark stamp, on the Eiffel tower postage stamp, in Basic Grey classic ink.  I rolled the text wheel, over the Travel Post postage stamp, in Basic Grey classic ink.

Bleached Flowers

It's Tuesday!  This week over @ Nacho Average Challenge, our challenge for you this week, is a color challenge.  So, use any sketch, from any challenge, use our colors, and let's see what you create!  Here is this weeks colors.  and we want to inspire  you!

When I first saw these colors, I instantly thought: Valentine's Day!  But, then I wanted to create something different.  No hearts.  But, a whole lot of love {smile}.  Here is what I created:

This is not a typical card for me.  I generally make something a little more frilly.  

The card base is crumb cake.  I wanted a neutral base so that the Raspberry Ripple and Rose Red will pop!  I stamped the Delicate Doilies stamp set in Versa Mark and used white embossing powder.  Heat embossing the doilies, gives the doilies a raised texture.  I love the delicate look of them.  I also stamped the Fabulous Florets flowers in Versa Mark and white embossing powder.  

I added some regular bleach to an aqua painter.  Then I painted the blossoms with the bleach aqua painter.  I wanted to take the color out of the crumb cake.  I then painted rose red classic re-inker on the bleached flowers.  I wanted to add an illusion of leaves, so I painted the 'blocked-in' areas with garden green classic re-inker. 

To help balance the center panel, I added a corner lace doily and a button/seam binding to the opposite corner.  I stamped the lace piece in Rose Red classic ink on very vanilla cardstock.  I then hand cut this piece out.  I took a length of rose red seam binding and crinkled it.  I took a wooden button and rubbed craft white ink over the front of the button.  While the craft ink was still wet, I dunked the painted wood button in a dazzling diamond glitter.  I then used a length of linen thread and tied a bow to the front of the button.  To create the tag, I used Raspberry Ripple classic ink and stamped the sentiment on very vanilla card stock.  I used the jewelry tag punch to create the tag.

Pretty in Blue

Whew, it has already been a rough week at work, and it's only Tuesday!?  The wonderful ladies over @ Nacho Average Challenge have a great color challenge for you to try this week.  Here are the colors:

here is how I put the colors together:

For the card base, I used Island Indigo cardstock.  I wanted the darker color to be the base of this pretty color combo.  I used some of the new DSP paper for the main panel; Tea for Two DSP.  Its a text paper (my favorite!), except there are some colored texts.  How pretty is that?  I used some Marina Mist DSP polka dot paper and the top note die to create the decorative piece on the left side of my card.  I added a doily and blossoms from very vanilla cardstock.  I used Lucky Limeade cardstock for  the leaves.  I added a rhinestone center.  That gorgeous floral lace trim is actually a new product from Stampin' Up!, too.  You can get this in the Artisan Embellishment kit, along with three other fabulous trims.  I used Lucky Limeade ruffle ribbon to tie the whole card together {smile}.

Antique Pretty

If there was a way to get an extra hour or two out of a day, I'd be all over that! This week  Ok, every week, seems to rush by.  Maybe, if I sleep less.  Well, I'm not sure if I can really function on under 5hrs of sleep.  So, lets cut something out.  Uhm.  I'm still thinking.  But while I'm re-calulating the time in my day, have a look at what the talented ladies over @ Sketch Frenzy Friday have in-store for you this week!   Patrice, has given us a wonderfully workable sketch to work with!  LOVE IT!

This sketch is so easy to work with, you just have to play along with us!  You can rotate or flip the sketch, if you would like more horizontal space.  And don't let the rectangles limit you.  Here is what I created:

I replaced the long vertical rectangle with a banner piece.  I replaced the horizontal rectangle with a circle.  And then, I just jazzed it up!

I used pink pirouette card stock for the card base.  The main panel is very vanilla card stock that I ran through the lacy brocade embossing folder.  I matted this main panel with a piece of soft suede card stock.  The banner is cut from a scrap piece of fan fair DSP.  I wrapped a scrap piece of crochet trim around the top.  I took a wooden button and rubbed it onto a very vanilla craft ink pad.  Then I dunked the wet button into a tub of dazzling diamond glitter.  I used a heat gun to speed up the drying time.  I used a length of linen thread to tie the button to the crochet trim, and then into a bow.  

For the circle, I stamped the sentiment from the blooming with kindness stamp set, in soft suede classic ink.  I used the 1 3/4" circle punch, to punch out the stamped circle.  I added a piece of first edition DSP to the stamped circle, and hand trimmed it.  I used a sanding block to help smooth out the rough edges.  I used a small piece of champagne glitter paper and the delicate doilies die to create the beautifully scalloped circle.  I used dimensionals to pop the sentiment off the glitter paper.  I added three tiny half pearls under the sentiment, to continue the vintage look.

I edged all papers with crumb cake classic ink and a sponge.  I wanted the card to have a vintage feel.

I belong to a RAK group.  That sounds almost 'wrong', doesn't it?  Because if the premiss is to do these act of kindness out of the goodness of your heart and not because you have to, then, can you have assignments?  Anyway.  I needed to get a card done, and sometimes my creativity needs a little jump start.  Between working full time, and taking care of my husband and dog, my crafting time is very limited.  I'd love to work part time, and have more time to play in my craft room.  But,  like the rest of you, and I have bills to pay, a mortgage and the other costs of living.  So, now for my inspiration.

The Stampin' Queens Sketch Challenge have a very creative sketch this week.  The elements in this sketch, are very easy to work with, and very fun!

Here is the sketch for week #25:

The decorative square was fun to work with.  But, you could add an oval, a rectangle, a frame lit, pretty much any shape that gives you some real estate to work with.  The double white vertical lines made me think of ribbon.  But, they could easily be decorate strips of paper, or a decorative trim piece.  I didn't see a 'sentiment' so I added mine to the lower left side.  But I imagine that you could add yours anywhere.  A tag hanging off the bow.  The place the SQSC25 is located.  Or even somewhere on your decorative square.  See, a lot of options!

Here is what I created:

I just love the way crumb cake and basic black look together.  So refined.  So elegant.   So, that is where I started with my card.  I cut a scrap piece of crumb cake card stock and matt it with a scrap piece of basic black card stock.  I took out two stamp sets that haven't been inked in awhile; Delicate Doilies and Kindness Matters.  The doilies were stamped in basic black and crumb cake classic inks, and versa mark.  I took a scrap piece of very vanilla card stock and cut it down to the size of the embossed rectangle.  I stamped the butterflies in basic black and then dry embossed them.  I re-stamped the butterflies onto vellum card stock.  I colored the back side of the vellum with a lucky limeade marker.  I wrapped a piece of crochet trim the length of the card.  I then wrapped lucky limeade 1/8" sheer ribbon.  I made a multi-loop bow and used a new SAB brad to hold the bow onto the card.

This is the card that I have sent out for my RAK assignment.  Shannon lives in Texas, so hopefully she will receive this card any day now.  I love how this card came together.  Not a lot of anything, just simply beautiful!  Thank you for stopping by today.  Leave some blog love :)

Doilies Everywhere!

This is the second post for today.  Please scroll down for this morning's post 'Kitchen Diva'.

As most of you have seen on the internet, Doilies have really made an impact this year in paper crafting.  I don't really know why.  But, just take a look around, and they are everywhere!  I don't mean that in a bad way.  I have been using them, or their likeness on my paper crafting items myself.   I just want to emphasise their popularity!

The creative folks are Stampin' Up! have come up with some super fun projects and cards!  And here are a few photos of those items!

The first photo is a simple holiday gift box.  The large stamp is heat embossed on the top of the package and tied with some crochet trim.  Not alot of work, and not alot of product, but just look at the visual impact!  WOW!  The next 3 photos are cards.  They all use a various sized doily stamps, but they all have their own creative style!  So, no matter what your style is, you can surely use a doily stamp!  Even if you stamp the doily and use a circle punch to punch out the image and use it as a tag!

The collection is called, 'Flirtatious' and I think it is just that!  Very fun, fresh, and flirty!  This collection has two stamp sets in it, also.  The large doily stamp is actually one of the background stamp sets, called, 'Hello, Doily'.  There is another stamp set, that has 4 various smaller doily stamps in it, called, 'Delicate Doilies'.  The wonderfully creative folks @ Stampin' Up! have also created a matching specialty pattern paper, Flirtatious Designer Series Paper.  The colors used in this collection are: Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink, Wisteria Wonder and Whisper White.  These totally girly colors are crisp, and clean.  You also get two sheets of laser cut doilies!  How fabulous is that?
 

But that's not all!  The folks @ Stampin' Up! have also designed some fabulous fabric by the same name (Flirtatious).  Here are two photos that showcase their fabric.  This first fabric photo, uses the Flirtatious fabric that is sewn onto flour sack towels as ruffles!  The last photo, is of a toddlers cardigan sweater with the fabric used as ruffle accents (again) sewn to the front.  (this item is also showcased in the Big Idea & Catalog, page 127)  Thank you for looking!  I hope these photos have given you some fabulous ideas! and have gotten your creative juices flowing!
