Pretty Pink and Purple Fabric Strip 12-inch Wreath

Howdy!  I am still making torn fabric strip crafts.  Today, I made a 12-inch wreath.  The wire wreath form I used is 12 inches wide, and has 4 rows of wire.  I tied the fabric strips, ribbons, and trims, to all four rows of wires, making this wreath full and simply beautiful!

For the fabric part, I used three different pink pattern fabrics, and two different purple pattern fabrics.    The fabrics used, measures almost a whole yard.

I also added some ribbons and trims, to help convey the feminine, shabby chic, and vintage style of this hand-torn fabric wreath.  

I used over 25 yards of ribbons and trims.  I added pink and purple seam bindings.  Along with a chevron pattern cotton ribbon in both pink and purple.  I added white lace and white velvet ribbon for softness.  And finally, I added pink glitter tulle and silver-trimmed pink satin ribbon for sparkle.

Finally, I added a yard of this beautiful wide (1 1/4-inch) rose-pink ribbon to hand this beautifully sweet fabric wreath, to provide you with a way to hang this wreath.  This gem of a wreath will look perfect hanging at your next tea party, sweet 16th birthday party, or that very special first birthday celebration!

If this is your first visit for this day (04/12/2015) Welcome!  I have an earlier post (today) that kinda helps explain my crafting.  If you stop by that post you can read my rantings here.  Now, lets get started with this post! {smile}

I created a few of these little gems.  I call them 'card gift combo boxes'.  Here is why:  You open them like a book, but there is a box inside to hold a gift (3" x 5 1/4" x 3/4").  Super sweet, right!  So the inside flap of the 'book' holds your hand-written message, just like a card.  The ribbon holds the 'book' closed.  Pretty sweet.

I needed some direction for the cover, so I stopped by a favorite sketch challenge site:  Mojo Monday.  For 2 reasons; 1) there sketches are easy to work with, 2) the design team is very inspirational!  These ladies are very talented, so if you need to get those creative juices flowing, just take a sneak peak at their work.

Now, before you say a word, I know that this is not my typical vintage country chic style, per say.  Sometimes its good to change things up.  And, I have the whole collection of this pattern paper and embellishments.  And I need to start using what I have.  But, lets take a closer look!

Recipe:  I used Real Red card stock by Stampin' Up! for the base.  LOVE their card stock.  The blue solid card stock is Taken with Teal (retired) by Stampin' Up!, too.

The pattern papers are from the Heart Strings collection by CTMH.

The embellishments, oh my there are lots, and from everyone.  The teal blue brad at the spine is from MME, the Nostalgia collection.  The white doily is from Martha Stewart.  The red fabric blossom is from a big box craft store (J).  The teal blue heart stick pin is from a big box store (J).  The teal blue velvet ribbon is from Stampin' Up! (retired, probably 10yrs).  The blue polka dot paper blossom is from a big box store, dollar bin (M), I also added silver super fine glitter on the petals.  The super fine glitter is from Martha Stewart.  The ticket is actually a painted wood ticket, from the dollar bin, at a big box store (M).  I added the letters, they are rub-ons from a different big box store (HL). I painted some mod podge over the rub-ons to help seal them to the wooden ticket.  The heart is Heidi Swap, I used silver metallic ink on this resist chipboard piece.   

The sentiment is stamped in basic black classic ink right onto the text pattern paper, using the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set by Stampin' Up!.  I also used the fancy label punch to create the decorative piece.

The grosgrain ribbon to hold this little gem closed is Real Red ribbon (retired), by Stampin' Up!.

Recycle, Repurpose, & Green

On this  Saturday, I have a busy day!  But then again, what's new? {smile}  My grandson's birthday is today.  So yesterday, I made 40 deviled eggs, half a gallon of green chili salsa, decorated 5 dozen cupcakes, and decorated my grandson's own cake {smile}.  This morning, I'm attending a stamp camp, to create 6 holiday projects.  I'm leaving stamp camp early, so I can get to my grandson's party before the guest arrive, to help set-up and decorate, and then we are celebrating!  

But, before I get caught up in all the birthday hoopla, let's look at what the fabulously talented ladies are doing over @ Our Creative Corner.  Kim is our hostess this week.  And she has a creative and wonderfully 'green' challenge!  Here is the inspiration board:

I just LOVE this challenge.  I think it's a clever, creative challenge to use something you would typically through away.  Add some green.  And be pleasantly surprised with what you make!

Here is what I created:

I used crumb cake card stock as my card base.  I added a whole panel of Lost & Found pattern paper.  I just love this light blue color and the circles of silver glimmer.  I added a strip of Nostalgic pattern paper across the middle of the card.  I wrapped a generous length of crochet trim to the green pattern paper.  I created a large scallop of text paper.  What can I say, I really LOVE text paper.  It gives my cards a shabby chic look.  

I used two different stamp sets:  Affection Collection (Stampin' Up!) and Signature Series (Paper Trey Ink).  I stamped the banner tag in Pear Pizzazz classic ink.  I stamped the sentiment in Soft Suede classic ink onto the petite polka dot pattern paper by Authentic.

I took a piece of a card board box, and die cut a butterfly from it.  Then painted it with Picket Fence distress paint by Tim Holtz.  I created a blossom from 'natural' coffee filters and a scallop circle die.  To hold the coffee filter blossom together, I inserted a green polka dot brad.

I added a row of buttons, that I took off a card I hated once I finished it.  It didn't look 'right'.
