Twilight Metal

Happy Saturday.  This has been a rough week at work.  After weeks like this, I really have second thoughts about continuing to work.  There are alot of other things I would rather be doing, than doing time.  The stress at work mounts and crafting is really an escape for me.

The lovely and talented Meihsia, from Our Creative Corner, has a wonderful challenge for you to try.  She has included an inspiration photo, and has asked that you use the colors in the photo and include a metal embellishment.

ok, when I first saw this photo, the first thing I thought of was the beautiful blue and white, with splashes of copper.

This card was alot of fun to create.  I just love the colors and the challenge of this.  I really, really wanted to pair a light pink with this shade of green/blue. {smile}

The card base is more mustard card stock.  The color panel is twilight, from CTMH.  The main panel paper is from Echo Park.  I added bits and pieces from my scrap box.  The gold glitter polka dot pattern paper is from Lost and Found, Sunshine collection.  The mustard houndstooth pattern paper, I'm not sure who.  The yellow pattern paper used for the leaves of the paper blossom are from Teresa Collins.  The white cardstock doily is a die cut from Paper Trey Ink.  I did add a circle of the houndstooth pattern paper to the paper doily.  I thought that it needed a splash of color.  The white seam binding is an online purchase.  

For my metal embellishment, I used a pearl center brad and a metal button brad.  I just love the look of this distressed metal.  (A little goes a long way.) 

The stamp is from the Puns from the Past, stamp set.  The frame is from Four Frames stamp set.  I added two pearl trios at opposite corners.

One Fold and Three Techniques

I have two card clubs.  A Saturday card club, and a Sunday card club.  My card clubs run from July-Nov and February-May.  We take off in December and January due to the weather, holidays, schools out, and folks are already too busy to ad one more thing.  So, we meet a total 9 times in our 'year'.

For this clubs' cards, I wanted something new and creative!  So, I was searching the internet and I found a great technique @ Stamping 411:  Faux Mother of Pearl.  So, I went over to SplitCoastStampers to see what they had on the technique and to look at their gallery.   I was looking for some creative inspiration, and found a wonderful layout @ Stamping 411 Sketch 203. I knew that I wanted to teach this technique, and this is the card we made:

So, now onto the second card.  The ladies in Sundays' club, love a challenge.  So, I saw this fabulous fold on SplitCoastStampers: Side-Step Card.  On their home page, they also have a tutorial (from May11th) on how to create paper buttons.  I thought this would be fun. One of the things I really enjoy doing, is making my own embellishments, so everything is matchy-match.  And, I don't want to spend good money on paper crafting that I can easily make myself.  This second card has alot going on; a fancy fold, paper piecing, and making our own paper buttons!  And this is the card we made:

Pillow Prize

Pillow Prize. That's what it is called when a roomy/hostess leaves you a little gift when you share a room. So, here is the little 'gift' I made for my roomys here at Leadership in Nashville, Tenn. Its a covered notepad. I wanted to show case some of the new products from Stampin' Up!, as well as show current products. The body form is from a stamp set 'Chic Boutique' and the sewing machine is from 'Puns From the Past'. I added some of the new designer paper, and new ribbon, and of course - buttons!

Sewing Magnetic Board + Card

I am selling some of my hand-made cards at the Craft Fair @ Tramway Community Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Friday November 12th & 13th. However, I wanted to make a few different paper-craft items to sell also. I had a wonderful time making a magnetic message board for a Stampin' Up! class, and really loved the one I made for my granddaughter. So, I decided to make a few for the craft fair. This one is an original, one-of-a-kind. I made the card out of the scraps of paper I had. I thought, that if someone buys this one for a 'gift', they might want a card to go with it. The pattern paper I used is from Cosmo Cricket. The solid cardstock is Stampin' Up!. The buttons at the bottom of the board are magnets.

To be eligible to sell your wares, you must pass a voting committee, and your items must be hand-made. So, I am selling individual and boxed hand-made greeting cards, a few ribbon book marks, a few metal book marks, some natural stone coasters, a few magnetic message boards, and a few different altered photo trays. I will also have some home-made pumpkin-cranberry bread, and a few jars of blueberry spoon fruit. If I knew how to sew, I'd probably have a few sewn items, too. So, if you're in the area, stop-by, shop, and don't forget to say 'hi'.

Saturday Technique Card Club

Good Morning! If you are in my Saturday Technique Card Club, here are the two cards we will be making today.

The card on the left features the 'spot light' technique and the stamping technique called 'tapping'. The tool usage we will be working with are blender pens and the stamp-a-ma-jig.

The card on the right features the 'masking' technique. The tool usage we will be working with is the Big Shot.

The project for today's club is: tile coasters. We will be stamping on tumbled tiles to make our own coasters.
