One Fold and Three Techniques

I have two card clubs.  A Saturday card club, and a Sunday card club.  My card clubs run from July-Nov and February-May.  We take off in December and January due to the weather, holidays, schools out, and folks are already too busy to ad one more thing.  So, we meet a total 9 times in our 'year'.

For this clubs' cards, I wanted something new and creative!  So, I was searching the internet and I found a great technique @ Stamping 411:  Faux Mother of Pearl.  So, I went over to SplitCoastStampers to see what they had on the technique and to look at their gallery.   I was looking for some creative inspiration, and found a wonderful layout @ Stamping 411 Sketch 203. I knew that I wanted to teach this technique, and this is the card we made:

So, now onto the second card.  The ladies in Sundays' club, love a challenge.  So, I saw this fabulous fold on SplitCoastStampers: Side-Step Card.  On their home page, they also have a tutorial (from May11th) on how to create paper buttons.  I thought this would be fun. One of the things I really enjoy doing, is making my own embellishments, so everything is matchy-match.  And, I don't want to spend good money on paper crafting that I can easily make myself.  This second card has alot going on; a fancy fold, paper piecing, and making our own paper buttons!  And this is the card we made:

Pillow Prize

Pillow Prize. That's what it is called when a roomy/hostess leaves you a little gift when you share a room. So, here is the little 'gift' I made for my roomys here at Leadership in Nashville, Tenn. Its a covered notepad. I wanted to show case some of the new products from Stampin' Up!, as well as show current products. The body form is from a stamp set 'Chic Boutique' and the sewing machine is from 'Puns From the Past'. I added some of the new designer paper, and new ribbon, and of course - buttons!

Saturday Technique Card Club

Good Morning! If you are in my Saturday Technique Card Club, here are the two cards we will be making today.

The card on the left features the 'spot light' technique and the stamping technique called 'tapping'. The tool usage we will be working with are blender pens and the stamp-a-ma-jig.

The card on the right features the 'masking' technique. The tool usage we will be working with is the Big Shot.

The project for today's club is: tile coasters. We will be stamping on tumbled tiles to make our own coasters.

Happy Birthday Rhonda

First, let me apologize for not posting in over a week! Good-golly, where did the time go? We celebrated a baby shower for my daughter this past weekend, and now we are preparing for her wedding this weekend. So, I am a bit preoccupied.

My friend Rhonda had a birthday today. This is the card I made for her. We had a small party at work, and most of the folks in the Radiology department did sign it. Her favorite cake is Italian Creme cake with Cream Cheese Pecan icing, so that is what I made. It was a 2-layer half-sheet cake (there's alot of hungry folks at work). Rhonda likes to sew, and she is not a girly-girl. The three tags on the card front say, 'friends', 'hello', and 'hand crafted'. I used all Stampin' Up! products, some are retired, though.

Mojo Monday Challenge #108

Good Morning! Thank you for taking a few minutes out of your busy schedules to see what I have done.

I have 2 card clubs, and both are filled with wonderfully talented woman. OMG, these ladies keep you on your toes. They are quick learners, who have an eye for paper crafting. This weekend, both clubs will be meeting. This is also our Holiday Club Meeting. How fun!

So, today is the day that my Saturday card club meets. We have friendly challenges on a regular basis. So, for today's meeting, they had to create a card/scrapbook page using Mojo Mondays challenge #108 (that was the current challenge when we met in Oct.). This is what I came up with. I now regret not doing this sooner. I would have loved to submit my entry. Oh well. Live and learn, right?

I used all Stampin' Up! products. Here they are: Garden green card stock as the card base. I used a sheet of Kaleidoscope designer series paper for the pattern paper. (Same sheet of paper, I just flipped it over, to use another pattern.) I stamped the chandelier stamp from 'Grand Soiree' in Certainly Celery classic ink, randomly. Stamped the bird cage image from Chic Boutique in Night of Navy classic ink. I stamped the bird cage again in Tempting Turquoise classic ink on a scrap paper. Punched out the bird image with my 1/2" circle punch. Colored the bird with a Barely Banana marker. Adhered the colored bird to a pewter build-a-brad. Added the epoxy dome over it, and layered it over the original stamped image. I matted the stamped whisper white card stock onto Bashful Blue card stock, and them again on Garden Green card stock. I stamped the 'merci' from the Chic Boutique stamp set in Garden Green classic ink. I used the small oval punch to punch it out. I matted that onto a scrap of Garden Green card stock. (I hand cut this piece.) I used a scrap piece of ribbon I had from the Elementary Ribbon Originals.

Quick and easy. One thing I love about Mojo Monday layouts, is that, you can start with a color, and a stamp set, and it all works wonderfully well together!

Shoe Box Swap

TGIF! I finally received the stamp set that I have been wanting since the new catalog came out! I don't know what it is about this stamp set that makes it so appealing. Its like my chandelier stamp. Its a random object, but there is this creative 'pull' to use it. :)

I have a shoe box swap tonight with other Stampin' Up!demonstrators. I wanted to make a simple, but classy card. So, here it is. I hope that you like it.

I used soft suede card stock as the base, and layered Kraft on top of that. I stamped the image in soft suede on white card stock. Layered the stamped image on pretty in pink and rose red card stock. The ribbon is the new soft suede ribbon. I used the boho punch to punch en Francais stamped flowers. Layered two of the flowers on top of each other. Used a tiny pink rhinestone brad to hold them together. The 'material' on the mannequin form is clear micro beads. Pretty cute, huh?
