Save the Date, Mom

I hope you are enjoying your weekend.  I am.  I wake up early this morning, because I had a paper crafting idea in my head and I just had to create it {smile}! Had that ever happen to you?   

When I was in Pheonix, I stopped into a vintage, shabby chic style shop, and picked up some gorgeous, and I do mean gorgeous! pattern paper by Teresa Collins: Save the Date.  So, I am set off to craft, and craft I did!  However, I had one little major hiccup.  No sticky strip/scor-tape.  And that is not like me.  I actually went into town yesterday to get some errands done.  And picking up more sticky strip/scor-tape, was one of the errands that I just didn't get around to doing.   Not that I didn't have time, just no motivation.  It was getting late and the thought of running into one more store and standing in one more line was over-whelming, and that errand was skipped {frown}.  So, neither of these two crafts are complete.  So, photographing them, was a bit of a struggle.

This is not a card, exactly.  It's another one of those card-gift combo.  I just love making these {smile}.  

I added a soft, gentle brown plaid ribbon to hold the gift box closed.  I didn't want the ribbon to compete with the pattern paper.  I wanted a ribbon that matched, but gets lost with the large flourish pattern paper.

For the top of this tilted piece, I wanted to add something special.  So, I cut a paper doily, and machine sewed some aqua mist dyed seam binding across the top.  I added a multi-loop bow and a pearl brad.

I really wanted to show-off the aqua mist color.  I think it really it's a beautiful shade, and the coral floral print really pops against the aqua pieces {smile}.

I used Soft Suede card stock, by Stampin' Up! to create the outside, main piece.  I used the large flourish pattern as the main panel.  

I used Aqua Mist card stock, to matt the center, main panel.  I thought it really made the floral pattern paper pop!  I love roses, and the colors in this pattern paper is so inviting and refreshing against the cold weather.

I added two rows of machine stitching.  I purposely didn't make straight lines, to give a home-made look.

The reverse side of the rose pattern paper, is this beautiful aqua lattice print.  I matted this piece onto a scrap piece of soft suede card stock.

The leaves were cut from soft suede card stock.  I thought it added a beautiful contrast.  I added three blossoms: Aqua, Coral, and Vanilla.  To add a little pizzazz, I brushed some Picket Fence distress paint along the tips of the petals and added some dazzling diamond glitter.

For the sentiment, I stamped 'happy mother's day' in Baked Brown Sugar classic ink.  I thought soft suede classic ink looked too dark.

And, a card I created with the same pattern paper: Save the Date.

This card, is roughly a copy of the card-box combo I created above.  I did do a 'less is more' concept of this card.  I did the same style of machine stitching on the floral pattern paper.  

I added a decorative edge to the soft suede matt and the aqua lattice pattern paper.  

I added the soft, brown plaid ribbon to the card front.  I tied it in a simple bow sideways, to allow room for a coral colored paper blossom.  I cut some leaves from Aqua Mist card stock.  I added some Picket Fence crackle paint and dazzling diamond glitter to the edges of the blossom and leaves.

A simple, but pretty Mother's Day card, made with some very beautiful pattern paper by Tersea Collins {smile}.  Stay tuned, I will be creating more crafts with these pattern papers.

Simple Christmas

Welcome.  I haven't been feeling too well this week.  So, this will be short.  

I am playing this week with Mojo Monday.  They have a simple sketch this week, and I just don't' have the energy to add to many extra pieces.

here is what I made

I turned the sketch 90 degrees.  I didn't do any stamping.  I used pattern paper from Authentique.  I used their new holiday collection: Glistening.  I love the kraft and cream snowflake pattern paper, and the aqua circle/star pattern paper.  I used pool party card stock and soft suede card stock for this card.  I wrapped some aqua mist satin ribbon around the card front and tied it into a simple bow.  I added some crackle paint to the rim of a kraft button and dunked the button in dazzling diamond glitter, while the paint was wet.  I tied the painted button to the center of the bow with cream twine.
The sentiment piece, is actually a digital piece.  I used foam tape to adhere the sentiment piece to the front of the card.

Cupcakes and Card

I've been a bit busy these last few days.  My daughter gave birth to her fourth child last week, and so I've been taking care of her other children, getting things together for Bunco, and celebrating my oldest grand daughter's 7th birthday!

So, let me share with you the cupcakes and card I made for H, my oldest grand daughter.  H, takes ballet lessons and well, she is a girly-girl.  So, I wanted her cupcakes to reflect her passion for dance.

My grand daughter, H, is a very sweet girl.  I have helped take care of her since the day she was born.  I was in the delivery room for the birth of my daughter's children.  I even gave H, her first bath.  And I spend alot of time with her, and her siblings.  I taught H, how to cook, and paper craft, and encourage her to continue with ballet, and other sports.  Like, ice skating, and kick ball.  But, H, is still a sweet little girl who loves to play pretend, and has a collection of dolls.  So, when I was shopping for some new digital  papers, on Etsy, I found this sweet set! and I knew it would be perfect!

The card base is made from Latte cardstock by Amuse Studio.  I added a tiny yellow polka dot pattern paper by Carta Bella Beautiful Moments.  I just love this Valentines Day themed paper.  

I added the post card to the yellow polka dot pattern paper, and ran a simple stitch border with my sewing machine.  

I also added some spun sugar stained seam binding, and machine stitched the seam binding to the card front.  I love the fullness of multi-loop bows, so I added one.  I had made a clay rose using a mold I purchased @ Etsy.   I love how the white clay adds a bit 'shabby chic'-ness to a paper craft.  Love the look {smile}.

I punched out a heart shape from an up-cycled coffee cuff.  I painted the edges with some picket fence distressed paint, and then add some glitter.  I stamped the 'sweet' onto very vanilla cardstock and used a tag punch to create the shape.  I tied the tiny tag with cream twine to the tiny pink button.  Then adhered the pink tagged button to the center of the distressed heart. 

I added a couple of buttons to continue the 'softness' and the home-made look {smile}.

I used a retired sentiment stamp set by Stampin' Up! to stamp the sentiment onto the post card.

H, loved her card.  Which made me very happy.  And I hope you enjoyed your time spent here, and you have been inspired to try digital paper, if you don't already use any.  They are very versatile and the best part, is that you can print as much as you want/need {smile}.

The Magic Number is...10!

Welcome, and happy Saturday!  The lovely Kristin, over @ Our Creative Corner, is our hostess this week.  Kristin, has asked that we create a paper craft item using 10!  Here is what Kristin says, '10 years ago yesterday, I married my amazing hubby.  In honor of a decade of married bliss, my challenge is for you to make a creation with either the number 10 in it, or it must contain 10 of the same items (ex: buttons, flowers, repeat images).  Ok, this I can do! and you probably have guessed what my repeat image is...buttons!

I wanted to make an Anniversary card for Kristin, and I knew that I wanted to use 10 buttons.  My favorite colors are pink and kraft.  I have a weakness for seam binding and crochet trim.  I love glitter.  So, I combined all my favorite things, and favorite pattern paper pieces.  Here is my card:

These are some of my favorite pattern papers.  And the original scrap pieces weren't very big, so they are pieced together.  I love how this card turned out.  Ok, the pale pink solid card stock is a retired color from Stampin' Up! (blush blossom).  I love how the color is soft and pretty without being too pink.  

For the heart, I cut the shape from chip board.  I painted it with some picket fence crackle paint.  I used spun sugar to 'color' the cracks.  The buttons were attached with a hot glue gun.  I then sprayed the button heart with adhesive and then sprinkled a chunky glitter and a fine glitter.  The buttons range from kraft, cream, white, to pink.  The rectangle is embossed, and a center text paper is added to give the rectangle some dimension.  I used foam tape to lift the heart off the rectangle.  And foam tape to lift the rectangle off the card front.

The seam binding is actually white.  I used the spun sugar distress ink to dye the seam binding.  I had a scrap piece of crochet trim, that just had to be added to the card front.  The glitter brad is from a scrapbook kit about 5 years ago.  

I added the sentiment to the top of the card.  I wanted to keep your eye moving.  And I didn't want to compete with the text paper at the bottom of the card.   I stamped the sentiment in basic black classic ink and then sponged the piece with crumb cake classic ink.  I free hand cut the banner.
