Magnetic A

Welcome.  Yeah, I've been busy crafting! and all I can say, is, YAHOO!  I just love it!  It really does my heart and soul good to create something with paper, seam binding, and buttons!  happy, happy, happy!  {big grin}

All of the items I am sharing with you, are for sale in my Etsy shop, HERE.  And what doesn't sell, will be for sale at several local (Albuquerque, New Mexico) holiday craft shows.  [please note, that I have not shared everything I have made for the craft fairs on my blog.  some items either don't photograph well, or don't ship well.]

One of my top sellers, are magnetic monograms.  I take 4" tall letters, and alter them.  I use pattern papers I have on hand, and add various embellishments.  You know me, seam binding, and a vintage button or two, and always something feminine like a rhinestone(s) or pearl(s). {smile}

All I have left to do, to finish this monogram, is to adhere the two round, strong magnets to the back, and viola!  

I used a scrap piece (4" x 4") of my favorite text pattern paper from Melissa Frances.  I love the dark grey color of the text, and the beautiful font.  This pattern paper is very easy to work with.  You add the color you love!  I painted the letter with a pearl cream color paint.  I wanted to keep the letter neutral, so the color doesn't compete with the pattern paper.

I wrapped some white crochet trim around the lower portion of the wide leg of the letter.  I wrapped some pale pumpkin dyed muslin around the middle of the letter and tied it in a simple bow.  I added a light coral lace blossom from Prima, Coffee Break collection.  I just love the soft, beautiful look of these lace blossoms.  

I added a light coral paper blossom just above the lace blossom.  I added some of the pearl cream paint to the tips of the paper blossom.  I tucked in a clock stick pin from Prima.  And finally, I added two berry sorbet vintage buttons, from Paper Trey Ink.  And finally, I wanted to add some sparkle, so I cut the legs off a rhinestone brad, and tucked it in close to the muslin bow.

D is for Dreamy

I have a confession, I love shabby chic, and pink.  Really!  And a challenge site I stalk frequently visit has two requirements:  use pink, and make it shabby chic!  Oh, I got this!  So, I am entering another paper craft in the current challenge over @ Shabby Chic.

I took a chipboard letter (D) and altered it.  I painted it and adhered pink polka dot pattern paper to it. I also added beautifully sweet embellishments. {smile}

I wrapped a piece of wide white lace.  I tied white seam binding into a simple bow around a multi-loop pink seam binding bow.  I tied another simple bow out of cream twine, and then topped these bows off with a pink houndstooth pattern brad.

I adhered a white resin key below the bows.  I added a white paper blossom above the bows.  Finally, I tucked in a double loop of pearls and two stick pins: shine white leaf and pink star.  And to give this letter a little sparkle, I added a trio of silver glitter butterflies.  I added pearls to the butterfly bodies.

I adhered two strong magnetics to the back of the letter.  That way, you can decorate any metal surface with this pink, shabby chic, monogram.  {smile}

Magnetic 'A'

Howdy! and yeah, I have been crafting more {smile}.  It's really a joy and not a job.  I sometimes wonder what my dear husband thinks.  Hummmm.

Anyways, one of the items that I make and sell at the Arts and Craft Fairs that I attend are magnetic letters.  The letters measure approximately 4" tall, and anywhere between 3 1/2" to 4" wide.  I make them with the intention to be a monogram of sorts.  But really, after you make your purchase, you can use them in any fashion you desire.  {smile}

Each letter is uniquely decorated, and the back and sides are painted.  I adhere two very strong magnets to the back.  They cling to most metal surfaces: locker, metal message board, refrigerator, and such.

Now, from my style (shabby chic), you would think that my customer base is women.  Well, that isn't exactly true.  My youngest recipient has been a 5 year old boy.  And I sell almost half my letters to teenage girls.  Who would have thought?  But, if truth be told, I don't have a customer in mind when I create them.  I just love to craft.  So any (and all) sale is a good one!

Here is my latest addition to my supple:

To craft these letters, the easiest way for me to do these, is to think of someone whose name starts with that particular letter, and craft for 'them'.  I know, it's not very scientific, or easy to duplicate, but that is my process. {smile}  

And here is a little more truth: I crafted this letter with Rachel Ashwell in mind.  She is the creative mind behind the shabby chic couture collections at Target: yeah, the store.  I don't know her, but I was inspired by her 'work'.  

I do take special orders on magnetic letters.  Just convo me as to what letter, and what your likes and dislikes are.  For example:  'F' - love florals, polka dots, buttons, keys, pale purples, and silver.  dislikes are birds, hearts, and pinks.   I sell these letters for $8 each.  There isn't an extra fee for special orders.  Just a time frame.  I can easily create one in a two week time period.  But, I have done a special order in a week.  

So, if you are looking for an unique gift during this holiday season, for someone special: mother, grandmother, sister, bff, teacher, baby sitter, or a great co-worker, these make wonderfully personal gifts.  {smile}

I'm heading back into my craft room, to craft a few more! {smile}  On a crazy side note, I can't find any 'Z' letters.  {frown}.  I think that's odd.
