Delightful Dreams

I wanted to make a card for this weeks challenge over @ Just Us GirlS.  This week, they have a sketch.  And, I have to admit, I really do like sketch challenges.  I generally know what papers I want to use, I just have a difficult time putting it all together.  Sounds kinda kooky, huh?

Here is their sketch:

The first thing that caught my eye about this sketch, is the simplicity.  I don't mean boring.  Quite the opposite!  This sketch allows you 'work' with the space.  You can create a CAS card, or overly embellished, and everything in-between.  You add your own style, your own flair, and you have a fantastic card! Just keep the layout recognizable to the sketch, and you're in.  That's what I love about this very wonderful sketch!

Here is my entry:

The card base is crumb cake card stock.  I wanted a neutral card stock.  I used scrap pieces of paper of the Delightful collection from Authentique.  I just think it's so soft, and pretty with a girl-y feel to it.  And a little bit shabby.  The designs on this collection are distressed, and I think it gives the paper a shabby chic look. 

Here is a close-up of the card's trio.  I think everything looks better in odd numbers.  So, that is how this collection came about: bow, blossom, tag.  It is also how the button worked its way onto my card: brad, pearl, button.

The paper blossom is from Prima.  I thought the paper blossom looked 'flat', so I jazzed it up!  I dotted the petal edges with glue and then dunked the petals into glitter.    

For the tag, I used the ornate frame from the Four Frames stamp set by Stampin' Up!.  I stamped the 'frame' in Versa Mark, and used vintage white embossing powder.  I heat embossed it, and then sponged the edges with a light kraft ink.  I stamped my sentiment from the Loving Thoughts stamp set by Stampin' Up! in black ink.  *White vintage embossing powder is white embossing powder with sprinkles of gold glitter and copper embossing particles.

I used some cream twine from Paper Trey Ink to create the bow on the white vintage button from Paper Trey Ink.  The pink seam binding I received in the mail.  I had ordered some hand-dyed ribbon from an Etsy shop, and she used this beautiful pink seam binding to tie the hand-dyed ribbon bundles together.  A very wonderful 'gift' I thought {smile}, and I think it looks great on my card.
