Monochromatic & MoJo 198

Happy Saturday! It's time for another challenge over @ Our Creative Corner and what a wonderful challenge they have this week.  It's monochromatic!  And not just any one color, but WHITE!  Now, before you pull your hair out, take a breath.  And take a look at the inspiration board.  And now take a look at what the design team have come up with, to help get you inspired!

As you can tell from the inspiration board, there are alot of different shades of white.  And look how great they look together.  There are soft, rough, and mixed textures of white.  And all the different shades of white!  Everything from snow white to cream white.  Now, mix them, give the different shades of white a different texture, to help keep your card visually interesting.

Here's my card, and here is a close-up of the stamped panel.  I used a white craft ink and a cream craft ink for the heat embossing.  I added white EP and clear EP to the different inks to create a different texture and give the card some visual interest.  I also added some smooth and texture cardstocks.  I used silver glass glitter to the butterfly center: heart.  I added some white crochet trim to the card, for a different texture.  I used a new stamp set from SU!: Kindness Matters.
Thank you for stopping by to take a look.  Now, go craft something and enter our white monochromatic color challenge @ Our Creative Corner.

CS40S

It's Thursday! and its time for another ceative Challenge over @ Creative Sketches.  This week, we have a sketch challenge.  So, stop by the challenge blog and see what the rest of the design team have created, take a peak at the sketch and join us!
Here is my card:
I turned the sketch 90 degrees.  I also only used 3 stripes, instead of 4.  I used the returning 1/8" taffeta ribbon in Daffodil Delight.  My card base is Tangerine Tango cardstock.  The pattern paper is Beyond the Garden.  I used 2 different stamp sets:  Full of Life and Friends Never Fade .  I used my markers to color my stamp; Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango, and Old Olive.  The floral and sentiment stamp were stamped on a already made tag.  I added a bow to the paper hole.  I wanted my card to have some sparkle, so I used vanilla smooch first, and then gold smooch.  The smooch actually watermarked the stamped image, giving it a distress look.  I'm happy with it!
Now it's your turn!  Create something and join our challenge!  Can't wait to see what you create!

Blog-iversary & Blog Candy! #5

Happy Wednesday! and you know what that means...it's time for another papercrafting question!  My 2yr mark for blogging is this month! July 22nd, and I am giving away not 2, but 3 blog candies! To have your name entered in the drawing, just answer the weekly question and be a follower.  Easy Peasy!

Question:  What is your favorite embellishment, that usually ends up on your paper craft?

my answer:  I have an infinity towards ribbon and buttons.  (Even though flowers have been on almost everything I make.)  If I can find a way to add some trim and a button, its there!

Christmas in July

It's Saturday, and that means that the wonderfully creative ladies over @ Our Creative Corner have anther challenge for you!  It's pretty easy; make a patriotic card, or Christmas in July card.  No other requirements.

This wonderful challenge brought to you by Our Creative Corner, isn't difficult so to speak.  But, I really have had a struggle finding my mojo this week.  My mind is traveling in a hundred different directions, and so it has been a little difficult concentrating on the project at hand.  Tomorrow, I will be working on one of my organized swaps for the Late Night Stampers.  This swap is card fronts only, 75 + 1, and you need have 2 layers and one embellishment on the card.
My card base is Baja Breeze cardstock.  The first matt is Soft Suede cardstock.  The pattern paper is several years old and I only have a few different size scraps.  I believe, (but don't quote me) it's by Scenic Route.  The brown polka-dot paper is actually the other side of the snowflake paper.  The white scallop circle is a new die from Stampin' Up!.  The text paper is actually from the First Edition DSP.  I stamped the snowflake in Baja Breeze classic ink and punched out with a hand-held circle punch.  I added some bling with a rhinestone jewel.  I wrapped some Baja Breeze seam binding around the polka-dot paper.  I made a multi-loop bow and tied a Neutral button on with some Baker's Twine.  The 'Merry Christmas' I stamped onto Very Vanilla cardstock with Soft Suede classic ink.  I cut the banner out with another exclusive Stampin' Up!.  I used the scallop trim border punch to create the soft suede cardstock trim around the banner.  I thought the card needed some sparkle, so I sprayed the whole card with my home-made frost white shimmer mist.  The card is blank inside.
Thank you for looking.  Enjoy your weekend, and be safe!

Creative Sketches Style

Happy Thursday, and thank you for stopping by to see what I've been crafting.  I want to thank everyone who had posted a comment on yesterdays blog candy post.  Good Luck!  But, now it's time for another challenge from Creative Sketches!  The challenge this week, is pretty easy - create a new card showcasing your style!  Easy Peasy!

I know what you're thinking, 'this really isn't you, Sharon.'  but take a closer look.  I've used vintage-style paper, a piece of text paper, a hand-made flower, some ribbon, and some sparkle.  It's me, just not my usual color combo.
close-up of the tag
A fellow paper crafter had made a comment to me a few weeks back, that she didn't know that blue was my favorite color.  And it's not.  Red, is my favorite color.  I love the color itself.  (To me it evokes strength, power, passion, and love.)   So, she wondered why I don't use it.   If Red is my favorite color, then why does 80% of my cards have no red.  They have Pink, Blue, and Crumb Cake.; this is my typical color combo.  But, they don't have Red.  When I paper craft, and I don't have to follow a style, I love vintage/shabby chic.  And you really don't see alot of red.  But I love Red.
And then, I found this new paper in my local scrapbooking store, Authentique.  I had to have at least one sheet of each pattern paper that is in the collection.  And I LOVE it!  For some odd reason, this paper makes me think of my grandmother.  Don't know why, but it does.  And so, I have had a smile on my face the whole time I have worked with it.
Thank you for stopping by and for looking.  Let me know what your favorite color is.  Even if it doesn't make numerous appearances in your crafting.   Have a wonderful day!
