Vintage Santa Bag

Oh my, December is already here!  I will be making my hand-made Christmas cards today.  There are some folks who will  receive store bought cards.  For those of you who make your own cards, you know that there are people out there who don't appreciate hand-made cards.  But, that's ok.  I'm happy to send out my hand-made cards to people who actually love them.
Irena, from the Our Creative Corner has a creative challenge for us.  Irena, would like for you to make a new paper craft item using a vintage Christmas image, and the color red!  So, I printed a free vintage Santa image, and used this image to decorate a gift bag.
Here is my Christmas gift bag:

I have to admit, I really love making these little gift bags.  They are actually quite fun and pretty!  I used some pretty vintage pattern paper, City Sidewalk by Pink Paisley.  I just love the colors and the patterns.  I used light blue snowflake pattern paper as my main panel.  I wanted to jazz it up a bit, so I stamped twice on it.  I used crumb cake classic ink to stamp the Post Card stamp along the right edge.
I then stamped the Holiday Cheer in basic black classic ink along the bottom edge.
I matted the circle pattern paper with the same old olive card stock.  I wrapped a white lace piece around the matted piece.  To cover the seam, I tied a strip of aqua mist satin ribbon.  I tied a piece of red bakers twine with small jingle bells.
I matted the vintage Santa image onto a piece of red snowflake pattern paper.  To give this bag a little home-made feel, I cut a snowflake from a coffee cuff.  I painted the snowflake with some picket fence distress paint, and then I dumped the painted snowflake in to a tub of dazzling diamonds.
I used the same red bakers twine to tie a bow behind an aqua mist button.  I used a glue gun to attach the button to the center of the snowflake.
I will be using this little vintage holiday bag to give a gift to a good friend.
I hope you have been inspired to play along with us @ Our Creative Corner.  If you need a free vintage Santa image, here is a link: http://olddesignshop.com/2011/12/free-vintage-santa-greeting-card/

Happy Crafting!  Hugs, Sharon W.

Oh my goodness Sharon! Wonderful gift you've decorated here. I love that these have such a perfect size handle grip on them too. Have you seen the tutorial on making actual lids for these? Crazy what people think of...like yourself! The vintage image looks perfect here and the fact that you used a coffee cozy for your snowflake is fantastic!!
Have fun making those Christmas cards, can't imagine anyone who wouldn't appreciate all the hard work you put into them. ;)
hugs to you,
Lisa xx

Oh, what a darling gift bag you have created, Sharon! Your layers and patters are wonderful and the pop of aqua really sets things off. That lace is to die for and the snowy rustic snowflake is fabulous. Super inspiration piece to get our readers' mojo started over at the OCC. Thanks so much for your fabulous contribution to our line up this week!

Hope you have a terrific weekend!

Hugs,
Linda
