I just wanted to share a card I made this morning.  I used some of the new products in the Stampin' Up! Big Idea & Catalog.  I was surprised when so many wonderful stamp supplies retired.  But, after looking through the new catalog, I know room was created for more wonderful stamping supplies.

I held a class this morning to show some of these new products off, and to give some of my hints and tips.

Here is the card we made:

I just LOVE the new incolors.  They are soft, sweet shades of some of the prettiest colors.  So, that just makes them super easy to work with.  The new stamp set I used is very versatile.  Easy to work with.  And then there are some of my favorites: a wheel, and a gorgeous new button!

I used some of my favorite products that are still current.  I just love the kraft colored cardstock, called Crumb Cake.  The color goes with jsut about everything!  So, I used the cardstock as the card's base and again as a matt for the polka dot embossed piece.  I really wanted to help tie the color in, so I also used the same color in classic ink for the polka dot frame.
Two new in colors that I also used are: Baked Brown Sugar and Crisp Cantaloupe. 
I used two different label-type stamps: four frames and label love and layered them.
The polka dot frame was stamped in crumb cake classic ink.  A large oval was punched from baked brown sugar cardstock, to create the center of the frame.  I stamped the label love in crisp cantaloupe and stamped the same stamp in the baked brown sugar.  I fussy cut the sentiment bar and adhered it to the center of the label with foam tape.
The gingham strip is actually a wheel stamp.  I inked the wheel in baked brown sugar classic ink, and stamped on a strip of very vanilla cardstock.  I used a square punch to create the banner end.
I used my favorite crochet trim across the middle.  I tied one of these new buttons onto the card front with some calypso coral bakers twine.

I wanted to 'play' with some of the new stuff coming out from Stampin' Up!, so this is what I came up with. The 'blue' card stock, is actually a new color called Marina Mist. I also used Old Olive, So Saffron, and Island Oasis DSP. I used a square punch to punch out various squares of the DSP, and used the Square Lattice embossing folder to create the 'texture' on the squares. I used some stamps from the Tropical Party stamp set, and the 'friends' is from Tiny Tags stamp set. I used the polka dot embossing folder on the Old Olive card stock, and then 'aged' this piece with a sanding block, ink, and a thread cutter. I used blender pens to 'color' the drink umbrella.

baby shower card

One of my girl friends is making some baby shower cards for her friend. She needed some ideas, so I made her this card. The lady who is having the baby shower is having twins-one boy and one girl. So, it makes it a bit difficult to use boy and girl colors. The card base is Bermuda Bay. I ran the white cardstock through the big shot using the polka dot embossing folder. I thought the white polka dots on the ribbon help bring a softer look to the invite. I stamped the giraffe in four different 'baby' colors. They wanted Bermuda Bay and Melon Mambo, so those two giraffes are in the middle. I used the Crushed Curry classic ink and Old Olive classic ink to help tie all the 'baby colors' into the card.

Sweet Little Valentine

Happy Friday! So here is the Valentine's Day card you will make in the Note Card class tomorrow. I wanted this card to be simply sweet, and I think I have. I ran a piece of kraft card stock through the big shot in the polka dot embossing folder by Stampin' Up!. I then used the new scallop trim border punch along both horizontal edges of the card stock. I stamped happy valentine's day in Bravo Burgundy. Tied a piece of rose red 1/4" grosgrain ribbon around the white card stock. I used glue dots to hold the new felt flowers onto the card, and viola! Quick, easy, and I think sweet! Perfect for a friend, an aunt, or your sweetie!

"Just Us Girls" Sketch Challenge! (One sketch and two cards.) Here is the card I submitted for the JUGS14 Sketch Challenge. I wanted to make a card that had no 'limits' or restrictions as to who's products I used. I think if your products are the best, everyone will use them, right? So, as you can see, most of the products are from Stampin' Up!

The card base is Blue Bayou (retired). The pattern paper matted on the card base is Baja Breeze DSP (retired). I ran the strip of Certainly Celery card stock through my Polk Dot embossing folder. I stamped the flower from Vintage Vogue, in Baja Breeze classic ink, and hand cut the flower out. I used a new Pretty in Pink Corduroy Button for the flower center. I used Dimensionals to lift the flower off the card. I used Shimmer White card stock for my rectangle. It is matted on a piece of Blue Bayou and I used dimensionals to lift this piece off the card. I used stamps from the With Sympathy (PTI) stamp set. I stamped the leaves in Certainly Celery classic ink. The rose buds are stamped in Baja Breeze classic ink. I stamped the butterflies in Pretty in Pink classic ink, and gave them 'flight' with my glue pen and Dazzling Diamonds glitter. The greeting 'Blessings' is from Fall Elegance (PTI). I stamped the greeting in Bravo Burgundy classic ink. (I thought that black would be too harsh, and brown would be too washed out.)
