Paris, retro

This is my second post today.  I stumbled upon this new sketch challenge blog, and I thought that the sketch was very interesting, so I am playing along.  As I was surfing the web, I also came across this beautiful color challenge at one of my favorite challenge blogs, and so I have decided to play along in that challenge as well.
The new challenge, is entitled:  Retro Sketches.  And one of my favorite inspirational challenge blogs is: the Shabby Tea Room.
Here are their boards:

For my card, I did use the required neutral colors and Navy.  My distressed element is my postage stamp and background panel.  For the sketch, I did turn it on its side, I wanted something vertical.

Here is my card:

I used two stamp sets to make the distressed background: sanded and friends 24-7; both sets are retired from Stampin' Up!.  The stander background was stamped in sahara sand classic ink, and then the flourishes were stamped in not quite navy classic ink.
To make the main panel I did some collage stamping, using two different stamp sets: Paris, and Carte Postale.  I stamped the Eiffel tower in soft suede classic ink, as well as the 'Bonjour'.  I stamped Paris and true friend in not quite navy classic ink.  I stamped the postal mark and the flourish in crumb cake classic ink.  I stamped the paris address in sahara sand classic ink.  I stamped the postage stamp in going gray classic ink.  I stamped the floral strig in grey flannel ink.
The two sentiment banners were made with vellum card stock.
I distressed the edges of the light panels with crumb cake ink.  I added some buttons from my jar o'buttons.  I tied a piece of white taffeta ribbon around the bottom of the raised panel.  To finish the bow, I  added a floral rhinestone brad to the center.  The card looked like it was missing something, so I added a paper blossom on top of a scrap piece of frayed crochet trim.
Thank you for looking, and I hope you have/had a chance to 'play' in your craft spaces this weekend!

Friends - Clean & Simple

Friends! I think of 'friends' as the 'family' you get to choose. I hold my friends dear. And, I'd do just about anything for them. This card was inspired by my affection for them.
This is our second card, for the Stampalicious Card Club, that is meeting today. The technique is coloring your stamp. The tool is the Stamp-a-ma-jig. I wanted a clean & simple card, because our other card is a little more labor intensive. (Its the shadow box Christmas card two posts down.)
This card uses minimal supplies, and ink. You can basically use your scraps of paper and ribbon to create this layout. Also, any sentiment will work, as will any object. So, its very versatile and easy.
Thanks for looking! Enjoy your weekend! If you have to go to the grocery store to stock up on your Thanksgiving supplies, please be patient and courteous to the other shoppers. We are all in this together!

Congrats Michelle

I am a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, and I have a downline who just signed-up a friend as a demonstrator! How wonderful! we have a new member added to the Stampin' Up! family.

So, here is a card that I made her, to say congrats for joining the Stampin' Up! family. I wanted to make her an unique card, with a pretty color combination. I used the stamp set Simply Friendship. I used soft suede card stock for the card base. I used a crumb cake panel, and a scrap piece of the presto DSP. I sponged both sahara sand and crumb cake onto the DSP; emboss resist. I used the scallop trim border on a rose red card stock. For the flowers I stamped and cut-out the flowers, then added a pearl to their centers. I added a scrap piece of white ribbon and inserted a neutral brad through the bow and topped the brad with a pearl jewel.
My downline group is 'Hoot's Got Stamps?'. I will be posting these cute paper 'totes' that I made for them, later this week. Interested in Stampin' Up! contact me today!
