Floral & Gold Holiday Gift Card Holders

Howdy! and welcome.  Just a quick post, to share what I have been crafting.  I'm working on quite a few items for my upcoming Holiday Arts & Craft Fairs.  {smile}

I don't know about you, but when I see green and red, I instantly think of Christmas.  Maybe it's because of my age.  When I was a child, those were 'holiday' colors.  But, now days, there isn't a color combo that screams Christmas anymore.  {frown}  

When I started crafting for holiday craft fairs, I knew folks were looking for something new, and unique.  And that is when I started making holiday cards and packing in non-holiday colors.  Let me share with you what I have made.

My first gift card holder uses 'Valentine's' paper from G45.  It's about love and romance.  And, yeah, I can work with that.  So, I took the floral pattern paper and the text paper, and mixed them very nicely.

G45 - Mon Amour

I used real red card stock by Stampin' Up! for the base.  I just love the richness of this color, and the weight is just delightful!  The pink card stock matt and tag were made with Amuse Studio pale pink card stock.  I used the red foil paper for the scallop trim.  I used a vintage green seam binding for the multi-loop box.  I added a silver cord bow (Stampin' Up!) and a vintage pink glitter bulb for a decorative piece.  The tag was stamped in Basic Black classic ink, using the holiday jar stamp set by Paper Trey Ink.  I'm pretty happy with how this turned out.  {smile}  So, I will be making some holiday gift bags, holiday cards, and large gift card holders with these papers.

My next holiday gift card holder uses this 'new' holiday pattern paper from Stampin' Up!.  It's black, white, and gold.  Not traditional holiday colors at all.  But, it looks so elegant together!

SU! Winter Wonderland Specialty DSP

I used basic black card stock by Stampin' Up! for the base.  I love the depth of the black and the weight of the card stock.  I used shimmer white card stock by Stampin' Up! for the matts.  I wanted white, but it looked too flat.  So, that is why I used the shimmer card stock.  I tied a multi-loop bow with some vintage black seam binding.  I tied gold cord into a simple bow, and attached a single gold jingle bell to the bows.  I stamped the sentiment from the Wonderland stamp set in basic black classic ink, onto a gold foil trimmed tag I picked up at a big box craft store several months ago.  (They were used for a different project - birthday party tags).  I will be using this pattern paper for gift bags, large gift card holders, and a few holiday cards.

Ice Blue #17

Welcome back.  I hope this post finds everyone safe and healthy.  It's Wednesday! and to most folks it's 'hump day', meaning the week is half over.  And, I am no different.  But, it also helps me measure the week.  With the seemingly thousands of items to complete in week, it lets me know how much I have accomplished (and how much I have left to do).  So, lets see what I have been doing...

The ladies over @ Stampin' Queens Sketch Challenge have a very 'user-friendly' sketch for us to work with.  Remember, the shapes are interchange-able.  Don't be stuck with a snowflake.  Use a circle, heart, tag, star.  Also, don't think that you are limited to a rectangle/square piece.  Those can easily be changed to.  Work with what you have.  And you'll be amazed as to how clever and creative you are!  But, most of all, have fun, challenge yourself if you want.  Be creative!

I have to admit, I really loved the blue and white in this sketch and the inspiration photo.  You see, it has been snowing at my house for the second day in a row.  So, all I see outside the window is white and grey.  Not very pretty.  But very isolating.  This type of weather, makes me 'hide' in my craft room.  (Not that that is a bad thing.)
I'm pretty happy with my creation.  I used one of my favorite card stocks for the card base: soft suede.  I had a scrap piece of tempting turquoise DSP, but I'm not sure where the majority of that paper went.  Anyways, I used an all time favorite holiday stamp set: Winter Post.  For my rectangle piece, I tore a piece off a card board box.  Rubbed some white craft re-inker on it.  Sponged the edges with soft suede classic ink and then sprayed it with vanilla smooch.  I used my glue pad to hold the turquoise glitter onto the card stock.  The jingle bells are the little cuties you can purchase from stamping' up.  I used some of the extra white craft re-inker to 'paint' them, and then while they were still wet, I rolled them around in a tub of dazzling diamonds.

Not too crazy with a thousand techniques.  Just very fun to make.  I encourage you to play along in a challenge.  Any challenge.  You will be amazed at how much fun it really is!  ANd you just might win!
