SU! Birds Card Class #3

This is the 3rd card for the SU! Birds Card class. Please look at the previous post (SU! Birds) for card #1 and card #2. I really like this stamp set. I'm not really sure as to why, but I do. I wanted to try something a little different. I first stamped the flowers in cameo coral. But, to me, they needed something. They looked clean and crisp, but I wanted a little something more. So, I stamped them again in blush blossom. I almost stamped again, but held back. I wanted a different color combo, so this is what I came up with. For some reason I have been on a green and blue streak, and wanted something a little different. Well, I guess that is the theme for today "something a little different". LOL. When I was selecting the ribbon color, I almost went with the very vanilla satin ribbon. It gave the card a more feminine look. That's not bad, I just thought the brown held the card 'together' if that makes any sense. But, if you sign up for the card class, I will let you pick which ribbon you want. And if you decide to make 2 of each card, you can always do one of each!

Note Card Holder

I am instructing a class today,where we will be making a note card holder and four note cards. I want these cards to have a clean and simple design. Because sometimes less is more!

All supplies used for this class are Stampin' Up!. This is the front of the note card holder. I ran my white card stock through the big shot in the polka dot embossing folder. I used the stamp set 'Bird on a Branch'. I really like this stamp set, don't ask why, it just calls me. I wanted the colors to be feminine and to compliment each other. But I really didn't want to use brown and pink. (I have had an overload of brown and pink.) I stamped the greeting and the branch in basic brown classic ink. I stamped the flowers in cameo coral. I stamped the bird in Bermuda bay. I used the same colors in the card stock. I used the polka dot Bermuda bay ribbon to help pull the polka dot theme throughout the project. I wanted a softer border, so I used the scallop edge punch on the larger mat.

Just Us GirlS 15 - technique challenge (1 of 2)

Here is my entry to the 'Just Us GirlS' #15 Challenge (technique), "add stitching to your project". I have a little sewing machine that I purchased years ago just for paper crafting. Well, when I dug it out of the box, the thread wasn't in. I'm not so good doing that. I wanted to get this card out before work this morning, so I had to come up with some other 'stitching'. I'm not sure if french knots counts as stitching, but I did use needle and gold cord.

For this card, I got my inspiration from a gift bag I saw at Target. Crazy, huh? My husband has gotten use to me looking at random things when we are out and about. Gotta love those people in our lives whose support is unmeasurable! :)

All supplies are from Stampin' Up!. The card base is chocolate chip card stock. For the stamped panel, I used sahara sand card stock. I off stamped the branch from 'bird on a branch' in close to cocoa classic ink. I didn't want the branch to be too prominent. I off stamped the leaves from 'flower fancy' in sahara sand classic ink, also. The flowers are from 'flower fancy' and they are stamped in whisper white craft ink, and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. The 'congratulations' is from 'well scripted' and stamped in close to cocoa classic ink. I used gold cord to make the french knots in the center of some of the flowers. I tied a scrap piece of the same gold cord around the bottom of this panel and made a little bow. I used my paper distressor to create the rough edges of the stamped panel. I used dimensionals to give the stamped panel lift from the card base.

Thinking of You Card - Club

Sorry for taking so long in between posts. I spent last weekend in Las Vegas with girlfriends! That was alot of fun! It is always nice to get away and recharge your batteries.

So, I have finally completed the second card we are doing at club this month. I really needed to do a card that featured a bird. I have quite a few ladies who have a weakness for birds. So, here we go!

The technique we are learning is 'stamping with bleach'. The technique itself isn't difficult, however, I think finding the right color combination is. Bleach will change the color of different card stock differently. So, if you are looking for a specific color change, it can be trial and error. If you just want the technique, any color will do. For those who know me, there is no 'whatever color will do'. Here is the card. The stamp set is current. You won't find it in the catalog, its on the dornment list. (I hate that list) There are alot of wonderful stamp sets listed there, and they all have great potential.

Anyways, the card is done in Mellow Moss, Always Artichoke, and Soft Suede. However, I used like four different stamp sets. Sorry. Branch Out, Bird on a Branch, Fifth Avenue Floral, and Friends 24-7.

Thank-you Christmas card

Howdy! Welcome to the wonderful people who have come to our beautiful city of Albuquerque for the International Balloon Fiesta! Mass Ascension was ah inspiring.

I saw a card posted on Sandi Mac Iver's blog. A card she had done in 10 minutes. Well, I wanted to see it. A card completed in under 10 minutes! not two hours. The card she had done is beautiful. Its larger than an A2 card. It must have been a 5"x7" card. I don't make large cards, so I figured I could alter it a bit. Here is my version of Sandi's card.

I am teaching a 3-D card class tomorrow and I need a 'thank you' gift for the ladies who are attending. I thought that I could make them each a set of 3 different Christmas cards, to help get them inspired (this is one of their cards). I hope that they like them.

For this card, I used the stencil Vintage Ornaments 1, out of the 'definitely decorative' SU catalog. I used a stipple brush and mellow moss classic ink to 'color' the inside of the ornament. I used the Champagne' shimmer paint out of the 'Holiday Mini' SU catalog, to sponge the ornament decoration. I stamped 'Merry Christmas' in soft suede classic ink. I stamped the branch in Close to Cocoa classic ink. I matted the very vanilla card stock onto brushed gold card stock and the card base in soft suede card stock. I tied a simple knot of mellow moss taffeta ribbon and attached with a mini glue dot.
