Blue #58 Mother's Day

Last week, I shared the Mother's Day card I made for my mom.  (here)  And, if you remember, this card show-cased a button card.  Now, my mom isn't one of those mom's who sew everything.  But, when I was a kid, she did sew some of my clothes.  ANd, the whole idea of a button card, just seemed warm and cozy; like home.
This week, I'm going to share the Mother's Day card I made for my daughter.  (Yep, she is a mom, too.)  She is a good mom.  She really gives her children her time and attention.  I'm very happy with how she nurtures her children.  My daughter isn't one of those girl-y girls.  She is a tom boy.  She drives a motorcycle, and can keep up with her husband, who is a professional race car driver.  One of her favorite colors is blue.  So, I set out to make her a beautiful, blue Mother's Day card.  Because she is truly a beautiful person, and mom
I stumbled upon this creative sketch challenge site, and the sketch looked perfect for what I am creating.  The talented Chupa, has given us another sketch challenge this weekend @ Sketchbook Saturday Challenge.  Here is her sketch:

Once I saw this sketch, I knew that I had to play along.  I love the layers and the open space.  Awhile ago, I purchased this pretty pattern paper by Teresa Collins, called Everyday Moments.  This pattern paper has blues, yellows, text, polka dots, stripes, flourishes, and flowers.  It's pretty without being too girl-y.  Just right for my wonderful daughter.  Here is what I created:

The card base and satin ribbon are from Stampin' Up!, Marina Mist.  The color is blue with a slight complexity and depth.  My first layer is the yellow floral text background pattern paper.  I added a trio of half faux pearls to the right upper corner.   I used the venetian design as my horizontal layer.  I had a scrap piece of white crochet trim, so I cut it in half length-wise and adhered the top to the top of the horizontal piece, and the scallop bottom to the bottom of the card stock piece.

I had a scrap piece of the blue flourish piece, so I matted what with a darker blue texture piece.  I added a lone pale yellow paper blossom from Kaiser Krafts.  I used a glue pen on the petal edges and dusted it with dazzling diamond glitter.  I adhered a trio of half faux pearls to the bottom right corner.
I had to include a piece of the text paper.  I matted the text onto a scrap piece of stripes and words. I stamped the sentiment onto my banner piece. I added a row of 5 half faux pearls to this piece, also.  I had a white button, that I just had to add.  So, I tied it onto the bow with some cream twine.  I tied the cream twine into a bow that matches the ribbon bow {smile} and added a half faux pearl.
Thank you for stopping by.  I'll be posting more this week, so swing by later.

Everyday Wishes

I made a birthday card for my daughter, and I can finally post it!  She turned 27 this past week.  We are finally getting to take her and her family out to dinner.  I can't wait!  We are going to one of her favorite restaurants and it just so happens to be one of my favorites {smile}.
When I set out to create this card, I didn't have a sketch that I was working with.  So, it won't be entered into any challenges.  Just a card.
I stumbled upon these fresh pattern papers from Teresa Collins: Everyday Moments.  The pattern papers have yellows, blues, and white in their designs.  Pretty basic, but very pretty!  Just like my daughter!
Here is Tara's Birthday card:

This card was a lot of fun to create.  I used four of the pattern papers and many different stamps.  I created two paper blossoms out of crinkled circles.  I created the 'tickets' from two different stamp sets from two different companies.  The buttons also come from two different companies.  I sprayed them with adhesive and then dunked them into my tub of dazzling diamond glitter.  I tied a cream twine through each button.
Thank you for stopping by.  Tomorrow, is the Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge and on Saturday, it is the Our Creative Corner.  So, don't forget to stop by again!  See ya soon!

from Paris, with Love

I'm not sure what the weather is like where you are, but here, its actually starting to get nice outside.  When I say, 'nice' I mean 70 degree weather, with the sun shining.  This winter, to me, has been long.  Before you think that I hate the winter, I don't.  I love sitting at home, watching the snow fall outside.  The trees covered with snow.  The whisp of smoke from our chimney.  However, we haven't had a lot of snow.  But, we have had a lot of cold temperatures.  And I am not a fan of cold temperatures.  Did I mention that it snowed here on Sunday evening.  And yes, it was 70 today.
Anyways, Anita, over @ Our Creative Corner is our hostess this week.  Anita, would like you to show us your 'spring break vacation destination'.  The only other requirement is to include the name of your destination on your paper craft item.  Sounds pretty fun!
                     Here is my card:

You would probably guess that my 'spring break vacation destination' would be the south pacific.  And, you would be wrong.  I'd go to the south pacific anytime of the year, not just during the end of winter.  But, I have a 'love affair' with Paris.  Don't ask me why.  I have wonderful memories of Paris.  I even prefer French cuisine.   But there is something about that city.  I even have a board on Pinterest dedicated to Paris.  For my card I used some new products that I picked up recently.  The beautiful pattern paper, is from Teresa Collins.
I used two different stamp sets:  Avignon, and Greetings from Paris.  I cut a scrap piece of very vanilla card stock to create my own postcard.  Then I used various stamp pads to stamp the different stamps: Desert Sand, Twilight, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Soft Suede, and Chocolate Chip.
The doily is actually a 4" paper doily, that I cut in half and adhered to the back of the yellow pattern paper.  I wrapped a piece of Baja Breeze seam binding around the card front.  I made one of those multi-loop bows.  I added another bow made out of white bakers twine and then a small paper blossom from Prima.

I stamped a postage stamp in Crushed Curry classic ink, and fussy cut it out.  I adhered it below the paper blossom, so it would cover up the pointy end of the corsage pin.  I added a rhinestone ring below the pearl tip corsage pin.I also added a yellow button.  I had to.  It's a weakness, for me: buttons and bling.  There is also a blue rhinestone added to the post card.
Thank you for stopping by.  Now, lets see your 'spring break vacation destination!
